Star Wars Shop

Angry Birds is a very addictive game, so be warned, it is an excellent form of entertainment as you use various skills to defect the evil green pigs which stole the Birds eggs. Now you know why they are angry. As a gamer, your job is to kill the evil pigs by catapulting the Angry Birds at the structures the green pigs are hiding in. The graphics in this game are superb, as those birds look really fierce and mean hombres. They mean business and are out to get those pilfering piggies.

You have to use your skill and basic knowledge of physics to help you defeat the evil ones. The game has 120 levels and to unlock a new level you have to have defeated the pigs before or upon using up your last bird. You get stars and points at the end of each successfully completed level, and when a level has been unlocked, you can go back and play it as many times as you like in order to increase your score.

Personally I love the red angry birds, which are just as far away as you can get from the cute robins so often found on Christmas cards, and I adore the white doves-like birds that can drop explosive eggs. The whole game appeals to my admittedly black sense of humor. If you are feeling particularly evil then play Angry Birds and take out your aggression on the pigs.

As you move up the levels the pigs come in different sizes and the ones wearing the crowns are the most indestructible. Others wear helmets and/or Armour, so they become increasingly difficult to annihilate. To combat them the birds come with different properties of destructiveness, for example the black bird explodes, and the blue ones- far from being joyous little song-birds, split into a lethal force of three. Specific birds are also effective against the different materials of the shelters the pigs choose to shelter in, these are made of wood, stone and ice, so you have to think logically about which bird will be of most destructive use in your battle against the pigs.

The levels have interesting names too, theres Summer picnic and Seasons Greetings and a host of others similarly cleverly titled. It is hardly surprising that the game has sold millions of copies since it was first launched in the Apple App Store. Now you can play for free wherever you are if you have a smartphone. You can now play online for free and this is good if you havent bought the app or want to play on a different device. Why not start to play for free now? Make sure that you have got a lot of time to spare, though as it really is a compulsive game.

  13. QUESTION:
    need star wars help??
ok this is probably really vague and you probably wont know what im talking about but a few years ago I went to this one star wars shop and they had this REALLY rare figurine of this REALLY strange robot thing that I guess was only in one of the movies for like 3 or 5 seconds. Well I was just wondering if any of you know what I'm talking about and if you do I would appreciate if you could tell me what it is called.

    • ANSWER:
"Really vague" doesn't begin to cover it ... lol ... At a guess I would say you're thinking of IG-88. He was one of the "Bounty Hunters" that Vader used in ep V to hunt down Han & Leia. Here's a link to the info on IG-88 from the starwars.com data bank:

      http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/ig88/index.html

There's a picture of it at the top of the entry. If that's not the one you're looking for give us some more info on him and I'll see what I can do to find out what you're looking for.

  14. QUESTION:
Vintage Star Wars shops in Boston?
Going to Boston in September, any collectors know of any shops that deal in vintage SW stuff? Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    • ANSWER:
go to Wizard.com or Marvel.com and they have a number or place where you type your zip code and it lists comic book shops. You'll have to find Boston's zip code. Once you get the numbers call them and see what memorabilia they might have. If they say they don't ask them if there's a place to go (obviously say you're gonna stop by anyway, and then ask)

    • ANSWER:

      1 out

  16. QUESTION:
If I want to make my own Star Wars style action figures, where do I get the materials? A hobby shop?
If a hobby shop is where I need to go, then what materials do I ask for? (I don't even know what they're made of.)

    • ANSWER:
Action figures are usually made from one type or another of plastic. If you want to use the type of plastic they use, you'd have to melt down plastic army men or other plastics then cast them in molds they way they do.

If you wanted to use polymer clay though (another type of plastic, that comes as a "clay" and can be hardened in a home oven), you could "sculpt" the figures directly, or you could "cast" raw polymer clay in a mold of some kind (even a baked polymer clay mold made from another action figure-- which could also be changed somewhat before baking if you wanted). Then bake. You might have to use a 2-part mold.

After baking, you can paint over polymer clay with several coats of acrylic paint, or you can just use colored polymer clays to begin with (perhaps using a metallic powder for any "metal" parts).

Polymer clays can be purchased at craft stores, hobby stores, art supply stores, etc... depending on the brand (if you don't have a preference or have very-hot hands, I'd suggest Premo as a good polymer clay to start with).

If you're interested in the idea, check out some of these pages at my polymer clay encyclopediat website from its Table of Contents page:

  22. QUESTION:
How many plot holes are there in the Star Wars Prequels?
Im talking with a friend, and telling him there are tons of plot holes in the Star Wars Prequels like Qui Gon not looking at any other shops except Waddo's which is the FIRST shop and only shop he ever visited only to concede to doing business with him; but he defends it to the death, need more ammunition against this guy

    • ANSWER:
There are so many plot holes. But let's be fair, most movies have them.
The problem with the Star Wars prequels is that the plot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Seriously, watch the movies and write down everything you see that goes against logic. You don't even have to pick the movie to shreds, just the obvious stuff. Your list will be massive!!

Here are a few of my favourites:
*Why debate in the senate IF there is an invasion? Further more, why vote of no confidence?
Surely delays matters more than sending an inquest, but then the Jedi tell the chancellor that they have been invaded, and he trusts them enough to settle the trade dispute but not to assure him the A PLANET HAS BEEN INVADED, as if they'd lie about something like that...
*Make a Clone Army no one knows about. (Kamino wiped off records). Lucky Dex knows about
Kamino darts, otherwise Palpatines whole plan doesn't work. Oh, I guess he used the force to sense that the first bounty hunter would give up Jango, and Jango would use a Kaminoen dart to kill her, and then obi would go to a guy who knew about Kamino? Yeah, good plan.
*Why is Padme almost assassinated? (i.e. her importance?) Also, why does she have her own
security? She's just a senator, and Naboo obviously isn't that important to the Senate.
*Why didn't anyone notice something a little odd when Trade Federation had an army big
enough to have a full scale galactic war with?
*Why are the confederacy and the republic at war with eachother in the first place? Why
can't they rule over their relevant territories in peace?
*Don't they notice something strange when Palpatine is "held captive" in a luxurious room?
*Why attack the flagship that they know the Chancellor (who they are trying to save) is
      on it?
*Why is the Trade Federation still apart of the republic? Not only for "illegally" invading
a planet alligned with the republic, but also for supplying the droids of the ARMY THAT
      THEY ARE FIGHTING!!!
*Who would vote for an Empire?
*Obi-Wan and Yoda call Palpatine the Emperor- how do they know about the "reorganisation"?
*Massive time difference between order 66 and death of sepratists. Where are the droids in
      all of this?
*You will not stop me. Lord Vader will become more powerful than either of us". That's nice.
Why then won't he stop you? Those two sentences have NOTHING to do with each other.

There are a lot more than this, but you get the idea. It's actually quite fun. You could write a book on all the plot holes, in fact I think I might do that one day.

      Have a good day :D

  24. QUESTION:
When is the 2008 Star Wars weekends at Disney World?
Hi everybody. When is the 2008 Star Wars weekends at Disney World? I am wandering about the Star Wars weekends and is the guy who plays Anakin is going to be there this year? My dad is taking me to Disney World after I finish High School in may. Can I fly on US airways from Charlotte NC to Orlando and stay in a onsite hotel and how much are two tickets to Disney World cost??? I have never been to Walt Disney World before and this is the year I am going with my dad. Please IM me on Yahoo Messanger and my screenname is darthvaderfan1990. Do they have a Star Wars gift shop and where can I buy me a Anakin Skywalker t-shirt at Disney World??? Who is the guy who plays Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars episodes 2 and 3? Because I have a crush on Anakin for 5 years now. Please IM me and I will send you a reply. One more thing. Can me and my dad book Disney's magical express shuttle with US Airways? Thanks for your help!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
Star Wars weekends are usuaully in may/june. right now they have not they have not announced the official dates.

the guy that played anakin skywalker is Hayden Christensen.

Check the US Airways website for flight information

Tickets vary depending on options but they get less expensive per day the longer you stay. if you want to see all the parks you would need at least four days.

At Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly known as Disney MGM Studios) has a small star wars sections and they do carry some star wars merchandise. mostly toys and some stuff having to do with the star tours ride they have there.

Each year they have different stars from the Star Wars movies apear on different weekends. there is no way to know who will show up or when. they will probably anounce it later this year.

DisneyMagic Express shuttle is only for people staying at a Disney hotel. so if you are staying at a disney hotel, you can call them and make arangement to get a ride to the hotel.

to check prices for tickets you can check www.disneyworld.com or www.allearsnet.com. the second site is a fan site with more information. menus, prices, reviews. hope that helps.

  25. QUESTION:
Any other games like Star Wars Epic Duels?
Hi! My husband really wants Star Wars Epic Duels but we don't shop on e-bay and Board Game Geek has them for like and we can't afford that. Has any of the game companies made the same game out of any other movies that have come out recently like Harry Potter or Transformers or anything like that? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Heroscape is kinda similar, but not Star Wars based. It's story takes a bunch of characters from different fantasies and times and pits them against each other. It's your choice if you wanna build a team of different characters to use, and the rules are really open to play the game a bunch of different ways. You get to build the map each and every time you play it, any way you like. It doesn't use cards like Epic Duels, but has special abilities already put on the player profile cards that you can choose to use throughout the game. There is a starter kit for something like , and tons of expansion sets that aren't needed but can add to the game if he gets into it. You can find it at a lot of stores. Heroscape is the same type of strategy mixed with luck game that Epic Duels, but if he likes the game because of it's Star Wars content it just might not have the same appeal.

  37. QUESTION:
Are there any shops in Paris that sell Star Wars action figures?
I'm very eager to get my hands on some, especially 12 inch ones :D

    • ANSWER:
Stores like Album in the Latin Quarter have action figures, but they are pricey collector's items, not toys. Of course, if you want actual toy figures to play with, you can find those at any toy store.

  40. QUESTION:
Is the Star Wars Force FX Lightsaber Construction Set a good deal for .99 and dueling?
I was going to buy a lightsaber from The Custom Saber Shop, but the would cast about 0. This one is only .99. I just want to know if it is good to duel with. Like some hardcore dueling, not just dinking around with it.

    • ANSWER:
It's probably a good price for what it is, but personally I would not make much use of it and then consider it to be a waste of money, and I am a huge Star Wars fan. It may not be strong enough to duel with a lot.
But then again, you never know unless you get it because I doubt anyone on Yahoo will have it.
Sorry I could not be more helpful.

  41. QUESTION:
How does the High Command of the Imperial Forces in Star Wars keep the staff happy on the Death Star?
I could not help but wonder about the fact there appears to be no women, sporting activities, shopping facilities or movie theatres on board. A workforce comprised entirely of men, clone warriors and robots would start to drive anyone crazy. Also the Death Star appears to be extremely isolated in space so that a short R&R trip to a planet seems out of the question.

    • ANSWER:
As "Seth" says ... if you want to see a little glimpse into life on the Death Star then read the book titled "Death Star" ... there is plenty on board to keep the "grunts" happy ... think the cantina on Tatoonie ... then realize there are 100s of them all over the Death Star ... life was good when you lived on the Death Star if you didn't have a conscience ... of course it kind of sucked when they blew it up.

It would have been a waste of time to put stuff like this in any of the movies but all the stuff you mention ... IE: women, sporting activities, shopping facilities, movie theaters ... it was all there and then some. Also, it's becoming a more and more common misconception but the truth is there were not many Clones on board the DS ... hell there wasn't even very many still in service to the Empire. The clones had a max life span of 25 - 30 years, hardwired into their DNA, so by the time of the DS there weren't many left.

and same as han solo. and where do they shop and stuff and do normal human stuf. what do they do? are they poor?

    • ANSWER:
      Chewbacca's home planet is Kashyyyk.

The Star Wars Holiday Special introduces Chewbacca's family: Mallatobuck, Attichitcuk, and Lumpawarrump. They live together on Kashyyyk.

The novel The Hutt Gambit explains that Chewbacca and Solo first meet when Solo, a lieutenant in the Imperial Navy, finds him unconscious aboard a slave ship. Solo's commanding officer orders him to skin Chewbacca, but Solo refuses and rescues the helpless prisoner. Upon regaining consciousness, Chewbacca swears a "life-debt" to Solo, and the two become business partners and best friends.

The 1999 novel Vector Prime by R. A. Salvatore (the first in the New Jedi Order series) marks Chewbacca's last chronological appearance in the Star Wars universe. Chewbacca sacrifices his life to save Han's son Anakin from a collision between the planet Sernpidal and one of its moons.

Is the 1997 Star Wars vhs collection copy protected?
Because i want the dvd but my charity shop has it for a pound(2 dollars)

    • ANSWER:
I did exactly what you are thinking about doing, I found the original Star Wars trilogy vhs at the thrift store for , I bought it and enjoyed them for about a year. I then bought the original trilogy dvd box set, which contained both the newly remastered movies and the the original movies as they were seen in theaters in the 1970's-1980's!!
So my advice is this, buy the vhs set, its very cheep, and worth it, and if later you deiced to buy the DVDs go for it, you can usually find them for about , and the DVDs video quality is VASTLY Better than the vhs

  3. QUESTION:
Which Star Wars film should I watch first?
I'm trying to get into Star Wars and I heard they did it backwards or something?? So what order do I watch them in?

And also how many films are there?

And are they based off of books?

    • ANSWER:
No offense to those who have answered so far but I would be hard pressed to find another question about Star Wars that has so many uniformed and "Wiki Tainted" answers.

There are 6 live action movies and 1 animated one along with two different animated series, one that was released in 2003 & 2004 and one that is currently airing on the Cartoon Network.

One of the many ways that Star Wars is unique in respects to other movie sagas is that they were NOT based on books. The novel versions came after the movie. The novel versions of the OT, ep 4 - 6, are horrible and not really worth reading ... the novel versions of the prequels are very good and the one for ep 3 is almost required reading if you want to understand all the stories within stories within stories that are going on that couldn't be put in the movie. Despite what the "Wiki-Tainted" answer says the OT was NOT a loose remake of "The Hidden Fortress" ... yes there are similar elements but no where near enough to call it a remake ... truth be told Lucas used many sources for the movies. The comment "the other books have nothing to do with the story" is so wrong it isn't even funny. Do you really think that Lucas would allow people to write books that involve his characters and story without keeping an eye on what they are doing ... he may be crazy but he's not stupid.

As for what order to watch them in ... I beg you on my knees crying telling you that I would give up 20 years of my life, and meaning it, please watch them ep 4 - 6 then ep 1 - 3. Why ... well this is just my "theory" but it holds a couple oceans worth of water.

Start with the fact that they were released that way and that is how the story was meant to be told. Watching them this way will also keep the "suspense" in them. Both of the trilogies "tell" on the secrets of the others but the prequels take much of the suspense out of the OT with some of the info learned in them. There is a scene in episode V: The Empire Strikes Back that was voted # 4 by SAG as one of the most shocking revelations in the entire history of film ... if you've seen the movies then you know what scene I'm talking about ... if you watch them 1 - 3 then 4 - 6 you will lose the "WTF" value it carried in 1980 because you will already know what it is and it won't seem like a big deal to you. The problem with that is that this event WAS a big deal to the saga itself. It basically took everything we thought we knew and tossed it into the recycle bin. To this day I remember what happened in the theater I was in to watch this movie for the first time and heard Darth Vader utter 5 words that turned the Star Wars saga upside down ... absolute silence ... you could have heard a pin drop 10 miles away ... we were stunned silent by this "revelation" ... this went on for about 10 seconds and then one by one you heard people say, no way ... he's lying ... don't believe him Luke ... and it went on until Luke made his decision and then another cheer went up in the crowd. Yeah, that's the kind of "crazy" we were back then ... remember ... this trilogy grabbed the people of our generation and said ... you think that was cool ... watch this. It's kind of like it was back in the 50s when all the kids were listening to that "Devil Music" called Rock n Roll. It was one of those things that had to be felt not seen. I doubt we will ever seen any movie in any genre that will come close to topping this saga ...

There is one other thing to decide also with respect to the OT (ep 4 – ep 6) … there are 3 versions of these movies … the ones that came out to theaters in 77 – 83 … the SE versions that came to theaters in 97 … and the DVD versions that came out in 2004. Is there much difference between the 3 versions … for the most part no. The main thing that was changed was picture quality and sound quality. Lucas did change some scenes and did add some small scenes. I would suggest you watch the DVD versions, as they are the “final” word according to Lucas. If you’ve never seen the movies and watch the DVD versions you won’t know why many, many fans want to smack Lucas up side the head for the change he made to the end of ep 6 ... then again, if you have seen the movies you know what scene I'm talking about. If you don't remember grab any true Star Wars fan and ask them what they think about the "Ghost Switch" ... if you've got yourself a real Star Wars "nut" you will see their face turn beet red in rage and smoke will start pouring out of their ears ... then they will launch into a tirade about how Lucas was insane or what the hell was he thinking or some other remarks that I can't use here ... lol ...

  4. QUESTION:
How did they film Star Wars in space?
Just watched Star Wars for the first time. Can someone explain to me how they were able to film the movie in space and other planets in 1977 when we don't even have space travel in 2010?
    I'm 12

    • ANSWER:
I forgive your ignorance. Such a young age...

CGI means computer generated images. They didnt went to space. They act in studios and put the images afterwards

  5. QUESTION:
What's the time line for the Star Wars: Clone wars television shows and feature film?
Could someone please explain the time line of the two television shows called Star wars: Cone wars, and Star Wars: THE Clone Wars, and also the feature film Star Wars: The Clone wars, and in what order they should all be watched to make sense. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
There are two Clone Wars animated TV shows ... Star Wars The Clone Wars ... Star Wars Clone Wars Micro Series.

The Star Wars Clone Wars Micro Series came out in late 2003 and early 2004 during the run up to the release of ep III. It consisted of 2 Volumes broken into 25 ten minute short stories.

In August 2008 Lucas released the full length animated movie "Star Wars The Clone Wars" to theaters. This movie was basically the "pilot" episode of the show that bares the same name that is set to start it's 3rd season on the Cartoon Network this fall.

How they fit in the time line is as follows:

Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones

Star Wars Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 1 Chapters 1 - 20
Star Wars Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 2 Chapter 21

Star Wars The Clone Wars animated movie
Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series

Star Wars Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 2 Chapters 22 - 25

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

The animated movie and currently running series MUST be set after the events of chapter 21 of the micro series for a very simple reason. In the movie and the currently running series Anakin is no longer a padawan, he has achieved the rank of Jedi Knight. Anakin was not elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight until chapter 21 of the micro series.

The animated movie and currently running series MUST be set before the events of chapter 25 of the micro series because chapter 25 of the micro series ends right where ep III begins.

It should be pointed out that in the time period between chapter 22 and chapter 24 of the Micro Series very well could end up being "intermingled" with events in the currently running series, there is just no way to know how much or how little this will happen until the currently running series ends its run ... then it will be easy to plug everything in where it belongs but until then this part of the time line will remain very "fluid".

  6. QUESTION:
Would anyone watch another Star Wars film?
I don't know about you guys but I would definitely love to see another Star Wars film. Perhaps something away from the Anakin-Luke storyline, maybe following a young Sith Apprentice, or better yet a neutral power with great potential in the way of the force.

I'm not a Star Wars expert by any means, I just think I'd like to see more films.

    • ANSWER:
I really didn't care much for the last 3. I think I only watched them to see how everything came about. The original 3 (Star Wars, Empire Strikes back, and Return of the Jedi) were classics though. ------------------------

  7. QUESTION:
why doesn't Hollywood remake th original star wars film?
looking back on the first three star wars film i can't help but think they can use a 21st century update. It's so retro to today's standards. i still appreciate them though even though they where before my time.

    • ANSWER:
In the interest of full disclosure ... I am a "old school" fan who first saw ep IV when I was 8 years old and have loved the story ever since.

That being said what makes you think that they could be done any better? What is so "retro" about them? It is simply mind boggling that many people in your generation are always wanting the old classics remade ... it just doesn't make sense. Some things are better left alone ... and that could be said for most of the "remakes" of older movies that we have seen in the past few years ... in fact there have been very, very, VERY few of these "remakes" that have done anything other than to butcher the original movie.

In truth Lucas already HAS remastered the original versions of the films ... TWICE. First was the SE versions that came to theaters in 1997 then there was the DVD versions that were released on DVD in 2004. In both of these versions Lucas has jacked up the FX, sound, & picture of each movie adding a few extra scenes & altering some scenes to fit in better with the prequel movies. They are being remastered yet again for the Blu-Ray release this fall and remastered one last time to convert them into 3-D format.

Also, "Hollywood" and/or "FOX" have no right to "remake" any of the SW movies ... Lucas owns every single copyright there is to own for SW ... nothing gets done, in regards to SW, without his say so and he will NEVER say "so" for this idea. Even after his death it won't be allowed as Lucas has made his wishes for the franchise very clearly in his Will.

In the end there is just no way that this will ever happen ... they are as close to perfect as they will ever get ... it's as simple as that.

  8. QUESTION:
Do you think they're coming out with a new Star Wars film featuring Darth Vader's apprentice?
Well since they released Star Wars: Force Unleashed, does anyone know if they're coming out with a new movie based on the apprentice?

    • ANSWER:
Its always a possibility but very doubtfull. Lucas has said that the only story he wants to tell that will take place between episodes III and IV will be in the form of a live action TV show that should be ready in 2009. Unfortunately the show will only focus on minor charactors in the Star Wars universe and he had repeated several times that Vader will not be in the show but may be refered to by some of the charactors.
The good news is that supposedly he is considering doing other animated movies like "Clone Wars" that will take place between episodes IV and V, and V and VI.
      Hope this helps!

  9. QUESTION:
Is there going to be another Star Wars Film?
I was just wondering if there is going to be another film so i can tell my friends.

    • ANSWER:
Short answer: not a chance in hell. The story that Lucas wanted to tell has been told.

Long answer: "Devlin B." is very wrong when he says that "The whole series, which was two trilogies(6 movies), is over."

In truth, when Lucas first put pencil to paper there were 12 episodes of the story. The simple fact is that the 6 movie saga we have now bares very, very, VERY little resemblance to the story that Lucas started out with. Over the years there have been 1000s of changes made to the story of Star Wars but there were two massive ones, the decision to combine the characters of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader into one and making Leia the "other Skywalker", that in effect eliminated 6 of the movies. After combining things to cut the episode number down to 9 the series was supposed to be told as follows: the first trilogy was to be about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, the second trilogy was to be about the rise of Luke Skywalker and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, the third trilogy was to be about "the other Skywalker" that Yoda spoke of in ep V. The combining of the characters of Vader and Anakin had ripple effects throughout the whole story line and making Leia the "other Skywalker" eliminated the third trilogy.

Even though there won't be any more new Star Wars movies coming out all 6 movies will returning to the big screen at least one more time. Lucas has confirmed that they are working on making a true 3-D version of the saga. Target date for that release is summer of 2012. The Clone Wars animated series will soon start its second season on the cartoon network and looks to have a long run for its future. Lucas is also working on a live action TV series. This series will be set between ep III and ep IV. It will not feature the more well known "major characters" ... IE: Vader, Palpatine, etc ... instead the series will focus on the minor characters who first formed the Rebel Alliance and tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance was formed and their early battles against the Empire leading up to the events of ep IV.

  22. QUESTION:
who is the focus in the first 30 minutes of the film Star Wars IV A New Hope.?
who is the focus in the first 30 minutes of the film Star Wars IV A New Hope. Why would George Lucas do this?

    • ANSWER:
George Lucas has done an interview in which he says that the movies are centered around the droids. (if you think about it, they (and Anakin/Vader) are the only characters in all 6 movies). While this sounds odd, I am not saying they are the focus of the movies, as obviously it is about Anakin.

The way he worded it in the interview was that the droids are sort of telling the story, as the war will go on around them, with or without them there, but they are stuck in the middle of this set of galactic events, on which they can have relatively little influence.

He got the idea from an old Japanese war movie that was focused on two bumbling friends who were stuck in the middle of the war, etc. During the interview they showed a clip of it.

So in essence, the movie is the set of events, as told from the droids point of view.

  26. QUESTION:
is there ever a scene in any star wars film where a lightsaber is dropped but it doesnt retract?
or do all lightsabers retract when theyre not being held?

    like when mace windu dies.
    and when ben kenobi dies.
or when yoda drops his and when anakin drops his.... etc

    • ANSWER:
There is a scene in ep III that shows that Lightsabres CAN be locked on by their users. It is when Obi-Wan & Yoda are fighting their way into the Jedi Temple during Palpatine's "speech" on the "Jedi Insurrection" against the Republic. In the scene you see Yoda "dispense" with one Clone Trooper and then throw his lightsabre into the chest of an oncoming Clone Trooper. The blade does not go off when he releases it and throws it at the Clone Trooper. He then pulls it out of that troopers chest and "dispenses" with a few more Clone Troopers.

I can see how this might be likened to the comment made by "Christopher S." in regards to Vader's lightsabre blade staying on when he throws it to sever the supports holding the gantry that Luke is standing on in their duel in ep VI but not really. That scene, while explained pretty good, does NOT really show that the blade was off when Vader retrieved it. All we see is him walking around the stairway with his ignited sabre in his hand so that scene doesn't really prove it either way although I will admit that you DO hear was sounds like the ignition of a lightsabre as Vader is rounding that corner. It reminds me of how some of my friends used to bust my balls about a scene in ep V when Vader & Luke square off for their duel. They would ask why Luke's lightsabre seemed to ignite faster than Vader's did. Of course the answer is because we don't actually see Luke's blade ignite ... we see him take it off his belt, hear a sound like a sabre igniting and then see bring it to guard position. As for Vader's, we see his ignite and the blade extend ... took me a while to realize that they already knew that and were just teasing but it's a relevant experience.

That being said ... while it is very true that no two lightsabres are alike as each Jedi builds their own it is also true that all lightsabres do share several a few things in common ... the biggest of those things is a "lock on" button ... every lightsabre has this function common to them. The other "major" thing is the "double tap" on/off switch. This makes it so one tap of the switch is needed to ignite the blade but it takes a quick "double tap" of the switch is needed to extinguish the blade. The reason for this is pretty simple ... it insures that if the switch is hit by accident during combat the blade doesn't go away ... it takes a concentrated, quick "double tap" to shut it off.

There are multiple examples of this in the books of the EU although "ironically" most times the text reads something to the effect of "Luke locked his blade on and threw it ...".

  28. QUESTION:
Which is the actual first star wars film in the six-film series?
okay now im really confused which is the first film which is it? is it the part 1,2,3 the first 3 or is the 6.5.4 first 1 and also im really confused about the prequel thing? now why is the 1999 version called the first one when the 1970 is the first one or is that there was sumthin in the 1 2 and 3 episodes GOD why is it so confusing!!!!

    • ANSWER:
It's not really that confusing but you're over thinking the question. The OT (Original Trilogy of episodes 4 - 6) is THE base main story of the saga. As for the "prequel thing" ... here's the definition of the word prequel.

prequel: n. A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative takes place before that of a preexisting work.

I don't think you're going to find a more clear cut definition than that. Now the "WHY" for the way they were made that way ... depends on the truth or the current version of revisionist history that Lucas is spewing now ... which, btw, is easy to dispute given things that he has said before. The truth however is a lot more complicated. When Lucas first wrote the story line for SW it was a 12 episode mega saga. He wanted to tell it in the same fashion as the old Flash Gordon series back in the day. He realized that wouldn't work so after getting a little support from Fox he made what we now know as ep IV. Whether or not if it was supposed to actually be ep I or not is something that only Lucas knows and won't tell but there is verifiable proof that the first working title for what we now know as ep V was "2 of 12" ... in the end it is irrelevant anyways. A New Hope is different from the other movies in two ways. First it is the only one of them that can be seen as a stand alone movie. By that I mean it had a definite beginning and a definite end. If it had flopped as many, including Lucas to a certain extent, thought it would nobody would have had to know that there was more to the story. Second it is the only one of the movies that comes even remotely close to being told as the story line went. After that Lucas made two HUGE changes that led to the 6 movie epic saga that we have now. The first was to combine the characters of Darth Vader & Anakin Skywalker into one ... originally they were two different characters. This change also took any back story of the characters that were in the prequels and threw most of it out the window as the main theme of that back story was about two Jedi, Obi-Wan & Anakin, who were best of friends and who were betrayed by Obi-Wan's apprentice Darth Vader who killed Anakin Skywalker. In any event this change led to the fabled "9 episode" story. The first trilogy was to be about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, the second trilogy was to be about the rise of Luke Skywalker and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, the third trilogy was to be about the "other Skywalker" that Yoda talks about in ep V. While writing the final duel between Luke and Vader in ep VI Lucas got stumped on what he could have Vader say to Luke that would cause Luke to attack his father in a dark side fueled rage. To solve this problem he made Leia the "other Skywalker" and had Vader threaten her. That change eliminated the third trilogy leaving us with the 6 movies ... end of story.

In the end it comes down to this: the OT is THE main part of the story and was told in the movies that were released in 1977, 1980, 1983 ... the prequel movies go back in time to show us how the Empire came into being, how Darth Vader came to be confined in his black suit of armor and the two MAJOR revelations that make the story what it is. As I said before, we'll never know if what we now know as ep IV was actually meant to be ep I or not as Lucas won't give a straight answer on it but when it first came to theaters in 1977 is was simply titled "Star Wars" ... there was no episode number on it ... it can be proven that the first working title for what we now know as ep V was "2 of 12" ... that's some pretty compelling evidence that show that Lucas changes his story when ever it suits him and disavows anything that he has said before as being "taken out of context".

  39. QUESTION:
Will there ever be a Star Wars - Knights of the old Republic film series?
I'm sure many of you know that there are currently 6 Star Wars films, but there is also a story line that is suposed to have happened about 4000 years before the original story.
I would sooooooo love it if George Lucas could make a series of films that would depict the story of those games.

I also think it's possible that Lucas would even make another series of games/films that would happen either between the two series, before or after them.

    • ANSWER:
The games and novels exist to tell those stories. The next filmed project for Star Wars will be a television series set in the time between episodes III and IV.

  40. QUESTION:
why did george lucas make the star wars film from 4 to 6 and then from 1 to 3?

    • ANSWER:
I'm always amazed, not in a good way either, at the answers people give when they try to answer this question.

When Lucas first came up with the idea for "Star Wars" he envisioned it as a 12 part story that would be told in a similar fashion as the old Flash Gordon series. It didn't take him long to realize it wouldn't work that way so it got cut down to a 9 part story. The first trilogy was to be about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. The second trilogy was to be about the rise of Luke Skywalker and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. The third trilogy was to be about the "other" Skywalker that Yoda mentions in The Empire Strikes Back. There have been many insane rumors floating around saying that Lucas is going to make ep 7 – 9 … he’s not because the don't exist anymore. They were all basically condensed into what became ep 6, Return Of The Jedi. A little known fact is that up until the point where Lucas was almost done writing the script for ROTJ Leia was NOT the other Skywalker. When Lucas was writing the duel between Luke and Vader he was stumped on something that would make Luke attack his father in a dark side fueled rage. He solved this problem by making Leia Luke's twin sister and having Vader threaten her. That one change eliminated the third trilogy in its original form.

As for why he did 4 - 6 first. It has been said it was because the technology was not there to make it right. That's almost true except for the fact that the technology wasn't there to make 4 - 6 either. People have said that Lucas is a genius ... I don't know if I'd go that far but what really is the true genius of Lucas is that he surrounded himself with the very best people in Sci-fi movie making ... for the most part everything that we saw in ep 4 were things that they made up as they went along. Basically a "how are we going to do this", "I don't know, figure it out" kind of thing. Lucas had the vision but it was the people he surrounded himself with who made it work. If you really watch ep 4 you see that it could have been a stand-alone movie. By that I mean that if it was a flop then we would never need to know that there were 8 more parts. Of all the Star Wars movies ep 4 is the only one that can be said of. Good had defeated Evil ... end of story.

  41. QUESTION:
Why in a star wars film do we hear the spacecraft blow up in the vacuum of space.?
A science fiction film should at least keep science facts right. I have seen so many errors it destoys the entertaiment if the situation could not be real

    • ANSWER:
Wow. Science FICTION remember. Lucas has actually talked about that decision. It was done for effect. Once he decided that there would be sound in the vacuum of space he had to keep the idea going for the sake of continuity. How good would the opening scene have been if we sat in the cinema with that huge space ship flying in overhead, laser canons firing explosions all around and no sound? Sound heightens the experience. So while he was aware that there is no sound in space, he decided in his universe, there would be.

is there any upcomming star wars film this year?
does george lucas wants create another film for star wars?
does george lucas wants to create another star wars film?

    • ANSWER:
Fan demand can be over-coming to all obstacles. Many people mentioned 9 movies or 3 trilogy's. The next three is to be episodes 7,8 &9. with Han & Leia having twins with Luke skywalker as the only Jedi master, who trains the twins as well as Leia herself. Which means bringing back the original cast. All have been on board except you-know-who...and that's Harrison Ford..so he may be killed off and the incident would be only recollected in episode 7. As Lucas has made it clear the Production and direction will be in the hands of someone else..and a certain Indiana partner may be interested..Mr. Spielberg himself..or at least in Production and a Director could be found with an interested Peter Jackson...believe it or not...it's future kinda hinges on how successful the 4th long awaiting Indiana Jones movie does? If it does well. then this group of moviemakers may carry on with the final trilogy! Let's be sure to watch Indy as many times as possible...Even though Harrison Ford now looks even older than Sean Connery! May the ford be with you!

Star Wars Figurer

For the Star Wars and/or Lego fanatic in all of us, Lego brought a new era of enjoyment when they agreed to a license with Lucasfilms, enabling them to produce a unique Star Wars line of Lego toys. The Lego Star Wars series has been available since 1999 and has been continually expanded upon. It was introduced with characters and vehicles from the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI). Since then there have been new sets and releases that encompass the prequel trilogy (Episodes I-III) and even the latest Clone Wars animated film and TV series.

All of the mainstays of the Star Wars franchise are available in Lego form. The characters, for the most part, maintain the typical Lego figure. That means that they have a square body with a block shaped head, with just slight variations such as colors and accessories like capes or hats/helmets. However, due to the wide discrepancy between the shapes and sizes of many of the Star Wars characters, unique and original molds were created for the Lego Star Wars line. Darth Vader for example, has his own easily recognizable head and head shape, as do the Stormtroopers, Yoda and many other aliens and characters. Yes, the lightsabers are available with some figures as well!

Outside of the characters, Lego Star Wars also produces all of the recognizable and famous ships and vehicles from the franchise. This includes the ultra-popular Millennium Falcon, which has been tweaked and improved upon since its original release. Also available of course is the X-Wing fighter. Other available vehicles and ships include the Imperial AT-ST, TIE fighters, a Rebel Blcckade Runner (the starship you see being chased by the Imperial Star Destroyer in the opening scene of the original movie) and several speeder crafts. There are also location sets including the Death Star, the Hoth Rebel base and more.

In addition to these characters and vehicles, Lego has released a vast array of Star Wars products, including several additions to their Technic line, which is based on complex parts and movement and are less reminiscent the classic block look, feel and construction of Lego figures. Also released was a mini figure magnet series with a dozen Star Wars characters. Additionally, Lego released several Star Wars products for their Ultimate Collector Series, which are large and highly complex designs. The Millennium Falcon for this series, with over 5,000 pieces, was the largest and most complex Lego product ever released for the public.

The single most popular Lego Star Wars product however would have to be the videogame series. These videogames sold tremendously well and reached critical acclaim across both the Star Wars and videogame community. The first game was based on the prequel trilogy, and the second game was based on the original trilogy. Afterwards, both were released together in one complete addition.

Lego Star Wars toys, figures and products are fun for just about everybody. Whether you are an adult reliving his childhood, or a child discovering the series for the first time, Lego Star Wars combines the best of two great franchises into an amazing line of products that should give you hours upon hours of entertainment.

Star Wars Collectors Items

Who doesn't remember PEZ?!? While this candy and the dispensers came out way before I was born in 1927 it still was a huge part of my childhood in the 80s and for many others as well! There is just something about the candy flavors and the little PEZ dispensers that allow you to be a kid again! If you like these dispensers or you are a collector of them, then you probably are on the look out for new ones you may not have as of yet. Some of these dispensers can sell for large amounts as collectibles.

The highest verifiable sale of these dispensers was a private sale of a Mickey Mouse soft-head at 00 between an Austrian dealer and a California collector. This dispenser was never available for sale to the public, and was a factory prototype. The high prices which some items fetch has led to the manufacturing of fake PEZ items as well. The ones that I was looking for were the Football dispensers or more specifically - The Steelers! I live in Pittsburgh so we love all things Steelers! Unfortunately I haven't found it yet, but you may like some of the ones listed below, have a look!

University of Nebraska Exclusive NCAA Football - produced this exclusive Nebraska Huskers football for sales through a single store with two locations in the state of Nebraska which has made this very hard to come by! It was expected to arrive by July 2008 and finally arrived in early November, 2008! The University of Nebraska Huskers football are now available, mint on card!

University Of Utah Football - This is the University of Utah NCAA Football Pez. has produced a football Pez for the Utah team for 2008! These are exclusively sold through a single store locations in the state of Utah and have thus are more difficult to obtain. The 2006 negotiations with NCAA College teams included Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Penn State Nittany Lions and Texas Longhorns. In 2007, they added Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisville Cardinals to the lineup!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football - This is the NFL Tampa Bay dispenser and it is one of the larger ones you will find around online at around 12" high! Now that is a big teamster! Even if you wouldn't use this as a collector item you could give it to a lover such as myself (go Steelers!) or anyone else for that matter. They have all kinds of different teams for the NFL such as Dolphins, 49ers, Ravens, etc. Still haven't found my Steelers one, but I will!

Obviously with these dispensers there is a whole lot more to it than just football options. You also have cartoon options for kids such as Spiderman, Sci-fi freaks will love the Star Wars and or Star Trek options, they have animals such as dogs, rabbits and monkeys, cars, and Nascar. They also have historical figures which were created: Betsy Ross, Daniel Boone, and Paul Revere which were released as part of the Bicentennial series. Pretty much anything you have an obsession for - you can find with these dispensers!

Flavors include; apple, cherry, chocolate, coffee, lemon, orange, strawberry and tons more. My favorite has always been the pink ones - I guess its strawberry but it could be raspberry! Whichever flavor you like - you can match it up with your favorite themed dispenser!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Does anyone know any sites where I can sell my collectable Star Wars Lego items?
I have a collection of old star wars lego items and I would like to know if there is a website where I can sell them to collectors.

    • ANSWER:
I guess Ebay is the best site to sell your collectibles. You can also search for your local online store near your place. It's more accessible if you can get a buyer just few miles from you rather than pay for the shipping.

If you want to expand your collection, try visiting http://www.bid4rares.com/all/search/star+wars+lego for more items that you might still want to add to your collection.

  2. QUESTION:
For collectors of Star Wars memorabilia?
Are there any fans out there who would like to share stories about their collections?

I collect vintage action figures and vehicles. I also have some newer items, such as the mini-busts from Gentle Giant. Are there any clubs for collectors of such items?

    • ANSWER:
I don't know of any specific Star Wars collectors clubs but I would like to! starwars.com or theforce.net might be a good places to start looking, especially for anything local.

I love to talk about my collection!
I collect pretty much anything Star Wars that catches my attention or pertains to Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Clone Troopers, or Mandalorians in general. I also have an impressive 110+ Star Wars book collection, mostly paperback but a few hardcovers. My collection consists of action figures, autographs, cereal boxes/displays, ornaments, diecast vehicles, models, books, PEZ dispensers, posters, helmets and just about anything else you can think of. My latest accquisition is a vintage metal Star Wars lunchbox my dad sent me for my recent birthday.
Prized collectibles of mine: an autographed pic of Jeremy Bulloch as Boba Fett, a copy of You Can Draw Star Wars book signed by two artists that put the book together; Tom Hodges and Matt Busch, and also a signed copy of Sacrifice by Karen Traviss (got to meet Tom, Matt and Karen at a Sacrifice booksigning back in May).
I also have a signed copy of Dark Force Rising by Timothy Zahn, and I also found an autographed copy of Shadows of the Empire #2 comic signed by Jeremy Bulloch (great find at a local flea market).

...I don't have any of the Gentle Giant busts. I'd have to save up for something like that, but someday...
AND possibly someday I'll have my own little Star Wars room to display everything--the computer desk is crowded enough, and most of the stuff is packed away. :P

Thanks for the question: now I can let it out a bit and not annoy my significant other. ha ha

  3. QUESTION:

  4. QUESTION:
A question for Star Wars collectors...?
What is your favorite item in your Star Wars collection?

I just got mine out of the basement and I'm setting it up for display. I just thought this would be a fun question.

    And yes, I know I'm a super-nerd. :)

    • ANSWER:
Hmmm... Thats a tough one... I'd have to say my collection of creatures such as my Ronto, Dewback, Wampa, Tauntaun, etc. Those are my favorites.

  5. QUESTION:
How much do you estimate I can sell a Star Wars themed Pizza Hut box?
this is a collectors item from episode 1.(pizza not included)
this is a collectors item from 1999

    • ANSWER:
~Wow!!! You actually have those Pizza Hut boxes from 1999? That's one of a few collector's items I don't have from that particular Star Wars episode. I bet they are worth a fortune though because I'm sure no one else has them. The average person would probably underestimate the true value of these pizza boxes, but any real Star Wars fanatic would know it's definitely something to add to their collection. With that said, I would be willing to offer you 0 per box and a total of 0 for a complete set.

  6. QUESTION:

last year was star wars 30th and alot of stuff came out figures , books , tin collector dvd and so on and so on .

    3) Concept Snowtrooper 30th figure
    4) Star wars vader tin DVD
    5) concept Starkiller figure

    • ANSWER:
That's tough, and I'm not a hundred percent sure that what I say is from the 30th Anniversary collection, but here they are:
      1. ARC-170 Fighter
      2. C-3PO with Salacious Crumb Figure
      3. Princess Leia in Combat Uniform (this was from the Star Wars Saga collection, but it was from the 2007 Galactic Hunt, and the first Princess Leia figure I recieved)
      4. All of the Force FX Lightsabers (Although I bought mine and it didn't work, they still ARE interesting)
      5. Darth Vader Figure Carrying Case (comes with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader figures)
: I guess that's it. Pardon me if some of them are NOT from the 30th Anniversary batch, but I'm pretty sure they were all put out in the same year. Hope I get picked as best answer! :)

  8. QUESTION:
Should I sell my Star Wars PSP?
Hello everyone..I'm a little tied right now..Should I sell my Star Wars Psp for a PS3 that I know I can jailbreak? I'm afraid to get rid of my psp since its a major collectors item. I bought the psp for 0..now Im seeing them (new) going for close to 0!!! which means I can probably sell it for an ok amount used...What should I do? Oh and please dont get off on the jailbreak...There has been a lot of people that have harassed me on the issue...I HAVE DONE IT BEFORE! I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.If you think I should sell the psp what do you think I should ask for it...
It will come with original box, papers, power cable, star wars battlefront game and a 4gb memory stick pro duo with card reader. The psp has some lite scratches on the ring on the back and on the screen (nothing to deep). If you could please give me an idea it would be great..Thanks for reading my question.have yourself a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    • ANSWER:
Actually the Star Wars PSP is NOT a "Major" Collectors item, as a matter of fact, I have never heard of anyone collecting PSP systems. I just saw a bunch on ebay going from anywhere from 0 to 0 new in box. I would say sell it!!! The Playstation 3 is absolutely worth it and you won't regret it, there are games like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit that will blow your mind away with AMAZING 1080p Graphics and Dobly Digital sound. The PSP just does not even come close to the experience you get with a PS3 as it only has a 480x272 screen, otherwise known as 480i resolution screen, It's not even good enough to play in 480p and tiny pointless little speakers which can't be heard in many different types of enviroment. I love my PSP and all but if you have to make a choice, I say SELL IT and get the PS3, You will never regret it :)

  9. QUESTION:
unopened Star Wars figurines, where should i sell these?
i check the prices on ebay and some see to be worth a lot...i also got a cel from the movie and some other collectable items like Star trek, autographs Etc. Is there an online price list or a collector group i can list them on?

    • ANSWER:
      EBAY

  10. QUESTION:
What's the value of Star Wars Power of the Force toys?
I have about 40 various unwrapped Star Wars Power of the Force figures and a few unwrapped vehicles (Millenium Falcon, Slave 1, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, etc.) that I bought back in college, and the original packaging is all still in pretty good shape. I've held onto them for the last 12 years or so, but at this point all the sentimental value is pretty much gone. They're just kinda taking up space, and I don't really consider them "collector's items". My fiance's 5-year old son would love them, and I wouldn't mind just giving them to him. At least some lucky kid can get some enjoyment out of them rather than just collecting dust. I bought them on sale super cheap at Target during a huge toy sale, and I doubt I have some ultra rare figure. It's all probably pretty pedestrian stuff. I really only consider the value (i.e. what a normal person would ACTUALLY pay, not some ridiculously inflated, arbitrary value from a price guide) to be a couple hundred bucks at most. Am I making a big mistake? Is there something I don't know? I just want to make sure I'm not throwing away a fortune or something.

    • ANSWER:
Your question is confusing in that you mention having unwrapped figures and vehicles in original packaging. Opened pieces are at best considered fair to good condition making their value substantially less than original packaged items. A little research on line will give you the best idea of the values of your figures. Your fiances son would probably benefit more from the "play-time" value of any opened toys but his financial benefits 12 years from now may be ten fold by keeping packaged toys as original as possible. Good Luck!

  11. QUESTION:
Who or which website can i look at to find out the prices of some old items?
The items include 1962 "Horror of the Screen" Collector's Edition booklets and Star Wars Trading Cards from 1977. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Try eBay, the world's largest online market place. Here is an example:

      http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=+1977+star+wars+trading+cards&_sacat=0&_odkw=star+wars+trading+cards&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

  12. QUESTION:
Do you think that the market for old toys will 'dry up' ?
I am a toy collector (Star wars, LOTR, 1980's figures etc) and I was wondering if the market will ever grind to a halt. There are only a certain amount of these items produced, many get played with / destroyed, as toys do, but a large amount end up in collections, with the collectors never willing to sell them.

    What do you think?

    • ANSWER:
Yep. Eventually. EBay is great for collectors in the sense that toys that were hard to find are now a little easier to come across, but if you're selling, it makes it tougher. Look at MEGO toys, you can get them dirt cheap compared to what they were pulling in about 5 years ago.

  13. QUESTION:

    Star Wars

I used to have the subscription for this magazine and canceled.. now I want it back, but do not know what it is called. If anyone has any idea what it is called, please leave the name below.

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Try the Noble Collection catalogue, and Museum Replicas. There were many other places to look back in the day, but these licensed things usually ebb and flow with current popular themes.

  14. QUESTION:

  16. QUESTION:
How Do I Price Old Still in their Package ..Star Wars Figures.?
A uncle of mine gave me 3 huge plastic crates ..of Star Wars and He-Man Figures...the Star Wars have a collection 1 on the top left corner...and a few have collection 2...on the back its dated 1979...haven't really dug though the He-man but it has all of the characters and 2 castle...looked on Ebay..but that wasn't very helpful...tried other sites and those went no where...any one know of how I can price these items...is there some kind of price book...not much of a collector ..my uncle said I could do what ever I wanted with them...but I'm not sure..what I should do.....thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Looking at E bays completed auctions are the best was to judge current market value. I have a few book price guides, but the listed price my not be current but is a starting point. One the older Star Wars figures the number of characters shown on the back makes a word of difference. The least number the better as these where the early figures. Depending on what card it's on, and the condition of the card price ranges from to up to 00. That ,800 is for a Star Wars 20/21 back carded Bobba Fett in good shape.

Masters of the Universe is quit different. You don't state that they are in package or not. The real money is in them having all their accessories. Loose figures run from to depending on figure and condition. The Castle? Grayskull is worth loose around complete and up to 0 MIB. Eternia is a at the 0 mark loose if complete, again depending on condition and up to 0 MIB.

  17. QUESTION:
Where is a good place to sell a collection of vintage Star Wars, 1980s G.I.Joe, 1980s Transformers?
I have a pretty large collection of vintage Star Wars toys as well as many 1980s G.I.Joe, Transformers and MASK toys to sell. Also have a comic collection of 700+ issues of Marvel, DC comics. Many impotant issues, as well as many sought-after items in the toys list also. These would be better suited for a collector than staying with me. Trying to make room in the house and my collecting days have long since passed, and I would like these to go to someone who truly appreciates them now. Complete lists of each available, and any help in directing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

    • ANSWER:
There are expositions for the used toy industry. There are also magazines for collectors of all kinds. You would have to place an ad with some description of what is for sale. You could also attend these expos and make contacts with dealers. Someone might take it on consignment. Others might buy it outright. Ebay is a good auction site but you have a niche market and direct contact with these collectors will get you the best sale price. Good luck.

  19. QUESTION:
Does anyone think I can make a 0 profit selling old VHS tapes on Ebay? ?

    • ANSWER:
      Nope.

  20. QUESTION:
what toys or games from today do you think will be worth a lot, 20-25 yrs from now?
Growing up in the 1980s, toys and games kicked ass and kids back then couldnt wait to tear open the packaging to play with them. Today, many toys and games from the 1980s are worth a lot of money, and they are worth a helluva lot if they are UNopened in their original prestine packaging complete with factory seal. I was a sonofabitch, and opened just about every Transformer, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K. or other figure I got my hands on. I also never realized that those quirky metal lunchboxes with TV icons imprinted on them like Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider from the 80s would be worth a lot as well. So, today, I do my best in trying to guesstimate what items of today will be worth lots in about 25 yrs from now. A few years ago I started buying the Transformers Alternators/Binaltech line...and ive seen the prices of them increase online a bit in the past few years. About 10 yrs ago I bought some KISS action figures from the MacFarlane toyline, but their value hasnt increased much. I have a few video games that are worth a lot, namely a PSone game called Intelligent Qube. (going for about , last time I checked). My girlfriend has some Ty Beenie baby bears that are known as the Princess Diana bear. If she has the correct model, its worth over 0k. I also have the Gremlins storybook/record set that was sold at Hardee's fast food restaurants (circa 1984). One thing I wish I owned was the Star Wars collector glass tumbler set that was sold at Burger King, I do however own some of the Muppets glass tumblerware that was sold at McDonalds around that same time period.

  24. QUESTION:
I want to sell a large amount of action figures, but where should I start?
Ok, did a little spring cleaning and came across a plethora of action figures, mainly Star Wars figures, that I would like to sell, but don't know where to start. Of course there's Ebay, but are there other sites/online sellers that are geared towards action figure collectors? I know of 'Craigslist,' also. Is that one any good? Plus, I think I'd rather sell them as a lot, instead of individually. Also, what are your opinions on selling these? Is there even a market for these items in this time of economic woe? Are Star Wars figures and such still worth anything? Give me your ideas and suggestions. Thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
Early star wars figures sell for a lot.
Check "completed items" on ebay, and on other collectors sites to see what some are selling for. Condition is everything.
Craigslist is too local. You will do better on ebay because of the wider market.
Individually or in small lots would probably make you more money. If you want to do it the easy way, find a collectible toy dealer who is willing to buy the entire lot from you. You will get less money because he/she will be reselling them for a profit, but you won't have to go through the work of selling them yourself.
But first, do some research so you know how much money they are worth. Search under the names of the items. If there is a collectors store in your area, ask the owner for advice on where to find price guides or collectors conventions. You can search on the net under "star wars price guide". Here is one guide, and the amazon link for it is below.Tomart's Price Guide to Worldwide Star Wars Collectibles (Paperback)

  25. QUESTION:
    2-3ft Original Transformer from 80's?
A co worker told me her boyfriend owned these and I've never heard of them. My boyfriend is a huge collector of Transformers and Star wars.

Can anyone please tell me the name of this item? I would love to try and find it to buy for him.
    Thanks so much!!

    • ANSWER:
Well im not sure about the toy your talking about as there's not much details. I do know there's a 3 foot optimus prime figure with built in speakers, you put a usb drive in to play music, but it's 400 dollars.

I'll edit if I find any information about it.

  26. QUESTION:
Have you ever come across a Neo Barbarian?
Neo-Barbarians are often mistaken as Bikers and Pirate as they are prone to wearing Black T-shirts, leather items such as boots, gloves and many other forms of jewelry such as chains, spikes and skull decorations and sometimes mixes of the two ideas of modern pirates which has accounted for the mistaken identity of an increase rather than decrease of Pirates globally do to breading habits and similar attraction to expensive shiny objects such as gems, metals and oddly enough have a terrible addition to coin collections.

    # They can also be spotted at any sports event, both public and private or odd ball games that make no sense to anyone but themselves such as driving on their bellies through mud with incomplete motor cycles, anything as a competition in Japan, and food and drink consuming contests.

    # Own few things, have huge debts and think it is funny when bill collectors try to collect money from them as they have a bad habit of accessing large sums of revenue and yet are terribly broke as a result of spending that money on things such as strippers, pizza, strong drink and weapons which most of the time they do not really know how to use in the first place.

    # Any vehicle which is painted camouflage and often with a lift kit and excessively large tires even though no one else would make something like a Volkswagen Bug into something like a messed up monster truck, and will attempt this with any vehicle they get their hands on in a group and love Junk yard Wars. 29.

Thank you so much for all your advice~ well If I had the money I would shell it out for him in a heart beat! Hes my nerd and LOVES transformers, Star Wars, and anime lol

I like the Darth Vader Transformer idea ;) I might search for that! Sounds really cool :)

Your Bf probably had Fortress Maximus, Omega Supreme, Devastator, or one of the other big ones. word of warning, those toys are EXTREMELY expensive on Ebay (even more so than G1 Megatron toys). complete figures often go for as high as 0 USD. if you wan to give your Bf a Transformers that will knock his socks off, I would look into buying the Darth Vader Transformer that transforms into the Death Star.

  30. QUESTION:
How much do you estimate I can sell a Star Wars themed Pizza Hut box?
this is a collectors item from episode 1.(pizza not included)
    this is from 1999

    • ANSWER:

Can there be a curse on the set of a movie?
Some say yes. Here are some crazy instances of death and haunting on set:

Poltergeist
You have probably heard about the fact that a number of people died who were involved in this movie- Seven to be exact. Carol Anne (Heather O"Rourke) was only twelve when she died during a bowel obstruction surgery. Dominique Dunne was strangled by her boyfriend at just 22. Will Sampson died from a heart-lung transplant at 53. Brian Gibson and Julian Beck both died of different types of cancer. Gibson had a type of bone cancer that occurs in teenage men and this type is rarely fatal. Gibson was 59. Beatrice Straight died of pneumonia at 87 and Geraldine Fitzgerald died at 91. Perhaps the curse came from the fact that Steven Spielberg used real skeletons of real people in the muddy pool scene. Could this have started the bad karma?

This isn"t everything! Oliver Robins" throat was really squeezed by the toy clown in that crazy toy scene, due to some mysterious malfunction! Author James Kahn"s air conditioner was struck by lightning and flew into his back.

The cave in the second Poltergeist movie where corpses were buried evidently had real skeletons in them as well- like these guys didn"t learn their lesson the first time.

Zelda Rubenstein received a call that her mom had died. Right before that, she had a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. There was a light shining on her face in this part of the movie. Perhaps it was her mom.

Brandon and Bruce Lee
Brandon Lee died during the making of The Crow. He was to be shot with a gun carrying blanks, but there was evidently a bullet lodged in the barrel that went off when the gun was shot, shooting him in the stomach and resulting in his death. His father Bruce Lee also died during the filming of Enter the Dragon in 1973 while at his Hong Kong apartment. Bruce died when he was just 32 years old and his son Brandon when he was just 28. They were obviously on different sets at different times, but it just seems bizarre.

Three Men and a Baby
There have been stories of a little boy in the window behind Ted Danson about an hour into the movie. It was also rumored that a boy may have killed himself in the house where they were filming, but according to Snopes.com, they filmed indoor scenes on a studio set in Toronto- not an actual residence. They claim that what appears to be this ghost was actually a cardboard cut out of Ted Danson behind the curtain that the props workers forgot to take off the set.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
In 2005 actress Jennifer Carpenter, playing Emily Rose, was haunted in the middle of the night on a few occasions when her stereo kept turning on. She said it was playing only part of a Pearl Jam song over and over, "I"m still alive"!

The Amityville Horror (2005)
One month before filming, the real life George Lutz, played by Ryan Reynolds, died mysteriously. A dead body washed up on the shore at the house a few weeks later, right before they started shooting the movie. Evidently, it was a fisherman. Ryan Reynolds claims that he was actually waking up every night at the same time as he did in the movie.

My Ghostly Experience...

I had a ghostly experience in South Carolina. I was staying there for about 4 days and attending a wedding on the weekend. I stayed at my friend"s grandmother"s house. I needed to use the bathroom connected to her bedroom because the other one was occupied. On my way out, I noticed that she had at least 50 lipsticks displayed on her bureau. Who wouldn"t take a peek? I opened one of them to see what color it would be when, all of a sudden, there was a huge bang on her closet door. I placed the lipstick back in its place and stupidly apologized for touching it!

The next night, we were getting ready for a poker game, so I eagerly dashed to the bedroom to grab the cards from my suitcase. I stopped dead in my tracks before exiting the room as I noticed a silhouette of a man in the reflection of the glass covering a landscape painting. I said, "Don"t scare me- I see you hiding around the corner!" There was no response. My eyes were locked on the silhouette as I waited for my friend to pop out and scare me. Then I hear him and his grandmother talking in the kitchen. I dropped the cards and ran into the kitchen to tell them what I saw. Grandma decided to let us in on a little secret. Evidently, her brother who passed away years ago likes to pay a visit every so often- right where I saw his form in the reflection! I slept on an inflatable bed in the living room for the next two nights.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How much can I sell Star Wars toys for?
I have a fairly large collection of "neo-classic" Star Wars action figures, all loose but with all original accessories. They are mostly lesser characters (bounty hunters, soldiers, Tarkin, Ewoks, Jawas, Lando, droids...), two Phantom Menace figures (Mace Windu, Ki Adi Mundi), plus a few vehicles (A-Wing, T16, Expanded Universe speeder). I don't want these around anymore, and I'm looking to either sell them or give them away. It's a shame to throw them out.
Is a collection like this (probably about 30 figures) worth anything? Or should I just "free" it on Craigslist?

    • ANSWER:
check Ebay.com It's the best place to gauge the market price of collectibles. If ur going to give them away you can donate them to an orphanage/battered women's shelter or mail them to me /grin.

I don't regret it really, just curious who might. Gotta enjoy your childhood. Just wish some of the pieces weren't missing to my Optimus Prime, lol.

    • ANSWER:
Yeah, between my brother and I, we had everything from Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and a few Transformers. My parents sold it all in a garage sale. Then again, I don't regret playing with them. I just wish I still had them.

  6. QUESTION:
Is Shrek a classic or a trend?
Now we all remember Shrek, right? Well, that's pretty much the main question I'm asking.

Now, we all know what classics are. Films that last forever no matter how old they are. Like Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Toy Story (or pretty much anything by Pixar), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (or almost anything by Disney in their prime years), etc.
And in the same way we all know what trends are. Pretty much things that were extremely popular for their time but now are a thing of the past. Like High School Musical, The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, etc.

In which category does the big green ogre belong in? Is Shrek a timeless classic or a 2001-2010 trend?

Why it's probably a classic: It is famous for being extremely edgy and doing stuff that no Disney movie at the time would do. It was the first EVER animated movie to win the Oscar(R) for Best Animated Feature. It's #8 on the American Film Institute's Top 10 animated films (and it is the only non Disney/Pixar animated movie to be on that list). It was successful enough to spawn three sequels (one of them, Shrek 2, being the highest animated film of all time until Toy Story 3 came along), a couple of TV specials, a Universal Studios theme park attraction, and a Tony(R)-award winning musical ( I just went to see that and I loved it!).

Why it's probably a trend: As I mentioned earlier it has spawned three sequels. One sequel, Shrek 2, was extremely well received by both critics and audiences. But the other two, Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After, were given a pretty bad rap for completely lacking the magic that the first two had. And BTW, Shrek Forever After, despite being very successful at the box office, was the lowest grossing of the Shrek series. Could that mean that people are tired of Shrek and friends? And the first Shrek was also popular for being extremely revolutionary with it's animation, but now many animated movies recently have improved on it ever since. And the Shrek movies are also famous for using pop culture jokes. So maybe those jokes are now dated and now not funny?

So, is Shrek a classic or a trend (2001 -2010)?

ps My Family and I loved Shrek Forever After! I was suprised to hear bad reviews about it! What did you think of that movie?

    • ANSWER:
I want to lean towards trend on this one. A slow moving one. Since while I do not think this movie is a timeless classic, I do think that it had an effect on American culture due to its risks and is not to be taken lightly. While Hanna Montanna and High School Musical might be quickly tossed aside, I don't think we'll see this one meet the same fate for years.

First off I disagree with you on your argument for the movie becoming trend based on the sequels. There are plenty of classics out there that have spawned horrible sequels but still remain a classic themselves. Some good examples of this would be Disney movies like Cinderella, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid which are all considered classic, but have sequels that are generally disliked.

The reason I think Shrek might end up on the trend side of things in time is due to a couple of reasons. First there is the fact that it was done with computer generated imagry which has a tendancy to end up outdated over time. Sure, the movie might look great to us now, but in twenty years or so maybe not so much.

The other reason it might lean towards the trend side of things is the dating of both the music and the jokes. Not since not everything referenced will be culturally relevant to viewers in the future.

While the movie has had sucess in the fact that it did things that no Disney movie did at the time, what might play a major role in the future and determining if it is considered a classic or not is whether or not we see more films that chances like this movie did. It might not become a classic, but it might be the movie that started to reshape once again how family movies are imagined.

    • ANSWER:
For some unknown reason, I have seen a lot of S.W. characters go for more than carded figures on Ebay.

Judging by the collection, and the condition, I would say you could possibly get around 400.00 (that depends on who wants to buy it, and how badly).

The vehicles would probably sell faster, and if I were you, I would wait a few more years for the value to go higher on these, but if you don't want to wait... try selling them as separate items and go from there.

  9. QUESTION:
What 'classic' movies do you hate?
I hate classics because they ARE so overrated. This is my list:

    Avatar
    Toy Story 3(sorry)
    Wizard of Oz(sorry)
    Halloween (original)
    Casablancha(sorry)
    Silence of the Lambs

I hate all these movies because I had REALLY high expectations watching them all, and was disappointed. They are EXTREMELY overrated.

Only classic I've loved is Star Wars, I watched when I 3, so I had no idea of the world, really, and didn't even hear anything about the movie, so I loved it...

What 'classics' do you hate and why?

    • ANSWER:
agree that avatar and toy story 3 are both too new to be considered a classic, but I do agree that both are overrated. can't agree with the rest on your list, but hey...opinions vary.

I don't hate these, but they didn't live up to the hype, imo:
On the Waterfront--this is supposed to be Brando's masterpiece performance, but I just couldn't buy it. he seemed too intelligent for the character he was playing. maybe that was the point, but it didn't feel like a match.

Raging Bull--I absolutely agree that it has astounding directing and top notch acting. no doubt about it. but its a movie about a truly repulsive, unlikeable man without many redeeming features. I suppose the artistry involved overcomes the subject matter for most, but I just can't get past the fact that I find the story itself unmoving.

Singin' in the Rain--listed as the greatest musical of all time. I don't get it, and I love musicals. but there was no chemistry between the leads, the songs were so-so standards taken from previous movies, and the story was kindof kitchy. the "big" scene with him singing in the rain is amusing for a few seconds, and yeah, the dancing's great. that makes for a cute little picture...but the greatest of all time??? huh?

It's a Wonderful Life--there's optimism and then there's just out there in lalaland. frank capra needed to be on some kind of medication to bring him back into the atmosphere.

and Hannah...it just sounds like you hate movies period.

  10. QUESTION:
Recommend me some movies to watch?
I'm bored, and would like to watch a few good movies. Especially any 'visually-stunning' ones.

    - Star Wars
    - Pan's Labyrinth
    - The Boat That Rocked
    - Stardust
    - Sherlock Holmes (w/ Robert Downey Jr.)
    - the Daniel Craig James Bond movies.
    - Shakespeare in Love
    - Romeo + Juliet (Leo DiCaprio, Claire Danes)
    - the Harry Potter series.
    - Troy
    - the Evil Dead trilogy

please don't recommend any horror/gore movies, ice age, toy story or classic disney animation movies.

    • ANSWER:
ebay completed listings. item by item check. i would not lot anything valued or more together. only lot the smaller valued items.

from a fast glance @ your list Final fantasy 3, super mario rpg, earthbound and was chrono trigger there? anyways those are all rarer -60 a poppers. the vast majority of all snes games are -5.

systems are all low valued. sorry like vhs players didnt age well. a gamecube with controller/wires is for example commonly sold there for 25 total (shipping is 10ish out of your pocket)

360 may be ok.need more info. basic model expect 80-100 last i checked ( a while)

look at your games for rpgs. like ff4on the ps1. they tend to have a much higher resale value than actions/platformers/sports/shooters. less were made-more niche market and a loyal fanbase who want regardless.

sports then shooters are the lowest valued resells generally. cranked out, many people had them or they didnt receive well cause no innovation. prices drop fast fast on those even now on ps3/360

best bet is to go to ebay.completed listings and do a category by category average. pile your low ball ones together into by system lots (snes games/sega/etc) and seperate the mints like mario rpg for individual sale. systems? ouch. keep em or sell by brand.

keep in mind each big system is about out of your end to ship.
games are ish up to 13 oz via firstclass mail (why you want to lot the ones to prevent shipping from eating into it so much). media mail games qualify and could be as cheap/cheaper.

if your games are unopened and/or come with box and manual -values increase greatly. an unopened final fantasy 3 is worth 3-4 times as much. boxes and manuals for the oldies are far rarer than games themselves. also be aware the batteries that handle the saves may have since died out should you get complaints. (erasure of saves) any real nerd buyer would expect this and know how to replace them with cheap replacement.

  12. QUESTION:
What are your thoughts on the Oscar(R) nominations this year?
Well, it's that time of year again, the biggest time of the year for Hollywood!!! That's right, it's... THE OSCARS(R)!!!! The time where stars come together to honor the best of the best from cinema of 2010! And the nominations came in. The Nominees are:

    Best Picture

    Black Swan

    The Fighter

    Inception

    The Kids are alright

    The King's Speech

    127 Hours

    The Social Network

    Toy Story 3

    True Grit

    Winter's Bone

(You can find all the other nominations on Yahoo! Movies)

Now after the nominations were announced, some Pixar fans like me, rejoiced for Toy Story 3's Best Picture nomination, while others complained about Christopher Nolan's Oscar snub.

    Here are my thoughts:

I have only seen 3 of the nominations on this list: Toy Story 3, Inception, and True Grit.

    Toy Story 3

I think this was the best movie of the year! Now normally, whenever a movie franchise makes a third installment, it is very risky (X-Men 3, Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, etc.), but this was actually the best threequel since Lord of the Rings: Return of the King!!! I laughed, I (almost) cried, I was on the edge of my seat throughout! It was just spectacular! Although I don't think it will win Best Picture, I think that will either be The Social Network or The King's Speech, but I'm hopeful that it at least wins the Best Animated Feature Oscar(R). I think it was so good, it not only met my expectations, but surpassed them To Infinity and Beyond... But some Dreamworks fans disagree. Some people thought "How To Train Your Dragon should have won!!! It was so much cooler!" Well, I for one though that HTTYD was Dreamworks best cgi movie since Shrek. So I loved that movie too. But I love TS3 a whole lot more. People happen to be complaining that it was too violent and too dark, well I say, remember E.T. the Extra Terrestrial? That was pretty dark! Especially when they tried to dissect E.T. But it was a classic! I think that the best kid's movies are the most scariest! And I could relate to Toy Story 3, since I was finishing Middle School. I had to say goodbye to old friends and teachers to meet new friends and teachers, like the toys had to say goodbye to Andy to meet Bonnie. So now you see what my thoughts are on Toy Story 3.

    Inception

I loved this movie a lot!!! I love a good twist ending! I think it was one of the most original movies I have ever seen. It wasn't a sequel, it wasn't a reboot, or a remake, or anything. And there was no formulas, no cliche dialogue, no preachy message, it was all fresh!!! But is it the best movie ever? No. Well to me it's not. I thought it was great, but I think people are over-rating it. I don't think it was any better than Toy Story, The Dark Knight, or Star Wars. But I do think that it is better than Twilight, Batman Begins, and Avatar. Even though it was nominated for Best Picture, which everybody asked for, people are still complaining for Chris Nolan being snubbed for Best Director! WOW! First everybody complains over the Star Wars prequels, then Indiana Jones IV, then Twilight, and now this! Can't anybody be satisfied? But I digress. Anyway, I hope that Inception does well in the Oscars(R), it is one of my favorite movies ever.

    True Grit

My Dad and I are HUGE John Wayne fans!!! We both think he is the best actor in Hollywood history! So, you could see why I was excited to see this Coen Brothers remake of True Grit, unfortunately the only movie that John Wayne won an Oscar(R) for. I saw the original True Grit two times, and it is now one of my favorite movies ever. I was thinking that the remake would be better, but I was wrong. My Dad loved the remake, I loved it too, but to me, it's over-rated. Look, I think that Jeff Bridges did a great job with the role of Rooster Cogburn, and yes, I think that Hailee Steinfeld did a great job, and yes, this was, in some ways, more well made than the original, but there is so much to the original that I really love: the atmosphere, the music, the look, everything. But the problem is, if I say that the original is better, immediately I get the nostalgia stamp on me. This is what happened with The Dark Knight and Tim Burton's Batman, but in this one, the actor from the old one is dead. So there's no excuse, except that this one was more politically correct. I am okay if you guys like the remake better, but I have a few nit picks. I am running out of room to share those nitpicks, but I will share them in the additional details. But I think you get the point.

So what are your thoughts? Who do you think will go home with a golden idol, what would your reaction be if your favorite movie lost or won the Oscar(R)? Write your thought down, and please no bad language. Thank you! :)

    • ANSWER:
I've honestly never seen a better movie (in a theater, when it first came out) than True Grit. I really, really liked it. It's sad they don't make movies like that anymore. I really thought it was gonna be totally different from the original, but the plot (up til the end) really followed the first one closely. I think what made it different and unique were how the actor's portrayed their characters. I think Damon & Steinfeld blew Campbell & Darby out of the water. I could have done without everything that happened after they left La Boeuf (first one definitely beats it in that respect). If it wasn't for the Duke I'd definitely say I liked it better than the original.

I'd love to see it win Best Picture, Best Director(s), & Best Supporting Actress (which up until tonight's SAGs I thought Hailee had in the bag). As far as Jeff goes (whom I love) he's definitely, by far, my favorite person of everybody nominated in all categories and his acting, I feel, is the best. However, I just think I would feel really really bad if someone ever won for the only role John Wayne ever won for. It's stupid, I know. I just think it would be a discredit to him and that would be so sad. I grew up with the first one (think I'd seen it 20 times before I even started school). My dads a John Wayne nut. He's like the only person in the entire world my dad likes (that's a famous person) so Ive been sorta engulfed in all his movies since day one. So if not Jeff I really like Franco. I think he's a good actor & bound to win sometime. But who'd I like to win & who will win........

PS I don't think you'll get the nostalgia stamp on you, lol, anyone with half a brain (I think) knows that movies (just like music), in general, were way better 40 or 50 years ago. Every other movie made between 1930 & 1970 was a classic. Of course here & there you still get great movies that can be put in that company, but it seems for every one great movie made nowadays there's 50 that are complete garbage or just so/so. If having good taste means having a "nostalgia stamp" put on you (or anything else with a negative condentation) then lord help us all.

    • ANSWER:
My little ponies or elastics (or if you had no money lots of your mums old tights tied to together). I spent hours playing it with my sisters...for the older audience on here you had rhymes with set routines to them, you generally stepped over one side of the elastic and jumped over or landed on either sides of the elastic dependant on the rhyme...the better you were the higher the elastics were.

I also loved kick can, British bull dog and wall cricket...I'm only 28 but kid's were still kids back then...none of this couch potato gaming generation of today. For wet weather I loved ker plunk or draughts, connect 4 was also a firm favourite in our house.

  14. QUESTION:
Is it wrong if I plan on exposing my future kids in 90's culture?
I'm sure most of you who take the time to fully read this question's content will be thankful for the nostalgia I provide you with.

Here's my question. When I get married and have kids, I plan on exposing them 90's culture. The culture I grew up with (I'm 20 years old right now). I mean this in all aspects. I'm going to have them watch the old TV shows/movies. I'm going to have them read the old books I use to read, I'm going to have them play the old video games I used to play, I'm going to even let have them listen to 90's music, play with my old toys, and even introduce them to snacks/foods from the 90's.. is this wrong?

I feel that the further in time we move, the more boring, unoriginal, bland, and inappropriate everything in our culture becomes. The 90's was an amazing time, and I really think my children would benefit in terms of becoming good people when they grow up if they were exposed to good 'old stuff from the 90's than the stuff kids see in today's world (that will probably end up getting worse)

Here's a list to jog your memory.

I'll have my kid watch shows like: wild thornberries, as told by ginger, rocket power, rugrats, doug, gargoyles, proud family, hey arnold, catdog, ren and stimpy, rocko's modern life, angry beavers, i am weasel, animaniacs, swat kats, dragon ball z, dexter's lab, ninja turtles, kenan and kel, all that, the amanda show, cousin skeeter, spongebob, poke'mon, barney and friends, sesame street, clarrissa, explains it all, pinky and the brain, arthur, franklin the turtle, ah! real monsters, my brother and me, action figure league now, rollie pollie ollie, maggie and the ferocious beast, the big comfy couch, puzzle place, beetle juice, gumby, looney toons, power puff girls, rocky and bullwinkle, the pink panther, jimmy neutron, the busy world of richard scarry, little bill, little bear, cow and chicken, johnny bravo, the flintstones, space ghost coast to coast, jetsons, secret squirrel, yogi bear, 2 stupid dogs, tom and jerry, popeye the sailor man, jonny quest, road runner, sylvester and tweety, digimon, boy meets world, thomas the train, recess, lizzie mcguire, so weird, the jersey, the famous jet jackson, smart guy, guts, legends of the hidden temple, even stevens, disney zoog, duck tales, land before time, mr rogers neighborhood, telletubbies, banan pajama, clifford the big red dog, corduroy, dragon tales, gullah gullah island, angela anaconda, power rangers, old super hero shows like superman, batman, spider man, hulk, xmen, fresh prince of belll air, family matters, full house, beetle borgs, boy meets world, the muppets, brady bunch, road runner and coyote, franklin, the magic school bus, casper, wwf wrestling, the addams family, woody the wood pecker and winnie the pooh

on top of that, I'll expose my kids to classic movies from the 90's. I collected them all from my childhood (they'll probably even watch them on VHS)-- much better than all the kids movies that are coming out today..

    movies include:
beeethoven, star wars movies, pinnochio, oliver and company , chicken run, wishbone, all dogs go to heaven, antz, small soldiers, wishbone, toy story 1, lion kind 1, aladdin, jumanji, babe, honey i shrunk the kids, beauty and the beast, fantasia, 101 dalmations, a bug's life, poccahontas, airbud, homeward bound, home alone, the mighty ducks, flubber, titanic, alice in wonderland, the fox and the hound, hunchback of ND, space jam, jurassic park, hercules, peter pan, snow wight, indian in the cupboard, free willy, men in black etc

Books that my kids will read would include my old childhood books that my parents read to me as kids like:
animorphs, captain underpants, redwall, berenstain bears, goosebumps, maltida and ronald dahl books along with all of the classic books like 3 little pigs, riding hood etc.

My kids will not be getting xbox 360s/PS3s only because games today lack originality. Don't you guys remember when we use to have AMAZING games? Like Zelda Ocarina of time? I feel EVERY kid (boy or girl) must play that game. Other games would include: Zelda Ocarina of time, tekken 3, mario 64, donkey kong 64, grand turismo, snowboard kids, batman beyond, the sims, super smash brothers 1, jet force gemini, banjo kazooie, gex, blitz, tony hawks pro skater 2, final fantasy 7, jet moto, crash bandicoot, pokemon blue/red version. These games are much better than the stuff nowadays, wouldn't you agree?

Snacks they'd get to experience would include:

hi-c, dinosaur fruit snacks, ring candy, blow pops, warheads, honeycombs, hawaiian punch etc..

Last but not least toys - most of my toys as a kid are gone but, I have some from my childhood that my kids will play with like:

hotwheels, mouse trap, jenga, operation, guess who, power ranger toys, wooden trains, legos, beast wars transformers, furby, beanie babies, skip it, super soakers, nerf g

    • ANSWER:
It is actually very interesting. Every one cherishes his childhood and i agree that the 90's were great. You can expose your children to the shows, games, music you used to listen to but it's completely wrong to enforce them to it. I always wanted my children to watch DBZ and old shows i used to watch but i think it's wrong to deprive of them the great things in their time. Believe me if what you have to give is great then the children will likely enjoy it for example i still listen to classic rock my dad used to listen to but i listen to modern heavy metal genres it's important to move on as time progresses you wouldn't want to be stuck in the 60's. Its important not to forget the past completely but you have to move on so there will be even greater thing in the future... I would say you have to incorporate things you enjoy from the past with new great things from the present.

  15. QUESTION:
Where is a good place to buy model kits?
I used to be really into building models as a kid, had the complete Testors line with the airbrush kit, the whole works. I mainly built cars and airplanes, but also built some movie models (Star Trek and Star Wars models mainly) as well as some Movie Monster figurines.

Anywho, 20 years later I'd like to get into it again. However, I used to buy my models from Toys R Us and a couple hobby shops. Nobody really carries models anymore (except for specialty stuff like Gundam figurines and such that don't interest me), I've checked all the places around me and they don;t have anything...

So where can I go to find a good selection of model kits? Classic brands like Ertl?? I've done a few searches online but I never really found any one place that has a good selection, only Mom and Pops with a small selection.

Do they still make model kits? Is there an online store that keeps a wide variety of models in stock? Also, supplies, such as the testors paints, glues, sandpaper...all the stuff, I need to buy all new again as my mom pitched all my stuff years and years ago after I moved out D=

    Thanks for any help...

    • ANSWER:
      First... WELCOME BACK !!

My first suggestion is to go to Fine-Scale Modeler magazine... in the back they have a listing of model shops, as well as online sources. PLUS it's just a GREAT magazine for tips and information... I've subscribed for almost 15 years now.

ANY good Mom & Pop place with models WILL let you LOOK at their catalogues and place special orders !! For the last decade I was a patron of a TINY store (little bigger than a two bedroom home)... but shopped there because a) it's a STORE rather than an online and nameless location b) they would order anything I sought, c) they were knowledgeable, helpful, and HUMAN !! Just a plug... J&M Hobbies in San Carlos, California !!

I'll give you some of my online sources since I NOW live out in the STICKS and it's a 2 hour drive to anything !!

  16. QUESTION:
3 good gift ideas for my 6 year old son?
my son is 6 1/2 and we're having a difficult time trying to think of 3 really nice gift ideas that he will be really happy with this christmas. in the past we've gone all out and bought tons of crap that we thought would be nice because we were just trying to put a lot of gifts under the tree...it turned out that he really didn't enjoy the majority of the gifts because they were super boring and they to this day are still sitting somewhere in his toy boxes or closet unused and in a million and one pieces.

this year we're trying to do the right thing and would ideally like to buy 3 really nice gifts that he will really appreciate and some smaller things as well. we have it down to...he is really into star wars, loves building with legos (the original classic legos) he does some pretty amazing stuff with these, and after that we are totally clueless. i realize we can only get him so many lego blocks and that there are star wars lego kits as well, so i'm here to seek some ideas from outside the parameters i already mentioned.

everything he sees on tv he wants not knowing what they do really. so any ideas would be great. we don't have a wii, ps2 or xbox either. we are thinking of maybe getting one of those 3 as a good BIG gift.

a limit of 0 for all 3 would be ideal, but if it goes over that limit it's okay.

    • ANSWER:
Legos are very popular at that age -- my son (also 6) particularly likes the "Mars Mission" and "Agents" sets. You might also look for some of the "Bionicle" figures -- they're like poseable, customizable action figures.

Get him some books as well. Find some that are age-appropriate so he can practice his reading, and have him read to you and your husband for 15-20 minutes every day. It'll pay off huge dividends at school.

Also, look for some chapter books or "visual dictionary" type books and read a couple chapters a night for storytime. Those can turn your "quality time" with your son into genuine learning experiences -- my son and I are currently reading a book about the history of weapons, and what starts out as a look at swords and firearms segues into a history lesson about the Civil War, or who Napoleon was, or a discussion of metallurgy or chemisty or physics.

If your son is the creative type, and you're willing to let him play supervised games on the PC with him, you might try the game "Spore". It's a LOT of fun -- you get to design your own creatures from the ground up -- their shape and color, how many limbs, what they eat, etc. -- and let them run loose on a world of their own creation. You'll have to sit with him to help him read some of the pop-up messages during the game, but the interface is very easy to use, and it's a good jump-off point for discussions of biology and ecology.

  17. QUESTION:
My personality is so off the wall! Here's an example: Can I love Horror Movies and Disney at the same time?
Here's a brief description of my weird personality: (Keep in mind I'm a sixteen year old kid, which makes this even weirder)

I love Heavy Metal Music but, at the same time I can go and listen to Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan and my ears can be just as pleased.

I have a huge Disney Obsession, but as I said before, I love classic Horror films.
[Example: Last night I watched The Toy Story (with my little sister), then immediately after I went and watched A Nightmare On Elm Street]

I enjoy reading comic books, but then I can go and read Mark Twain or Edgar Allan Poe and have the same amount of reading pleasure.

I love to play Halo with my friends, but I don't mind going to play Lego Star Wars with my little brother.

And That's just the examples I could think of for the moment. As you can see I have two totally different personality's. My friends say I have the most diverse set of interests and hobbies, but they say that is what makes me unique. They say that's why I can make friends so easily because I have something I can relate to, on about every subject possible.

Anyway, this just occured to me last night, and I would love to see what you guys think!

    Thanks for answering!

    • ANSWER:
I know exactly what you mean!

Like you, I'm a huge fan of rock music and anything loud is pretty much good with me.

But I love my ballady music and I really like snow patrol.

I know what you mean about films as well. There's nothing I like better than a good scare or a bit of crude humour but I am properly in love with Disney's Hercules and Anastacia. =P

The same applies to TV. I like comedys and dramas, a personal favourite is Scrubs and I like things like CSI. And, although I hate to admit it, I can't get enough of Gossip girl.

And as for games? Its got to be mario cart for me! Though I quite like resident evil.

I don't think you're weird to be honest. I think it's good to have a wide range of interests.

(well I hope it is, I'm exactly the same!)

      :)
